Shift House by Apollo Architects & Associates
Called Shift, the house in Tokyo was designed by Japanese studio Apollo Architects & Associates. The unusual house's exterior looks cold and unwelcoming, because there are no windows outside. But it’s only an appearance, as passers-by are unaware about original design idea. It turns out that inside the space of the house is situated a small internal courtyard. And inner walls are totally made of glass that provides views into all of the interior spaces on both floors. Everything in the house aimed at supporting balance and harmony. You can see the plan of the rooms on the picture below. There is even a yoga room on the first floor. The symbolic tree in the courtyard plays a central role in sustaining the equilibrium of the architecture and allows to take pleasure the Japanese four seasons.

This Dance Theatre occupies 500 square meters and includes different areas: cloakroom, ticket office, dance floor where two bars with long counters run along both side, DJ cabin and the area for the audience. The main idea of the project was to create ice cavern in the centre of the city. Decorations, lights, shapes and colors follow this theme. For instance, two enormous neo-baroque lamps hanging like stalactites. The other source of light comes from some standing vases that look like rocks emerging from beneath the floor. This is a place for meeting people and all of the space organized to move easily and communicate with pleasure.

Luxury design by A-Cero – House 10 in Madrid

We have recently reviewed the contemporary house design by A-Cero, which was built quite recently. The following house is another masterpiece by this famous Spanish studio. It refers to the end of 2008, when it was built in Madrid’s La Finca residential area along with many other unique houses, all designed by A-Cero. This huge house features sweeping light concrete exterior with sharp edges, making it look generous and even larger than it is and giving the contemporary feel. It would probably look unwelcoming and cold, if not the careful and well-thought design of the surrounding landscape and outstanding illumination, making the house shine like a gem at night. The interior complements the extraordinary architecture, at the same time providing the diversity of styles for different rooms, depending on their purpose.

Contemporary Summer House Vestfold 2 in Norway

This unique house is located on the coast of Vestfold in the southern part of Norway. It was built as a summer residence and blends with the landscape greatly. Truth to say, it’s difficult to imagine that modern comfortable house could be situated on a terrain surrounded by rocks, but the designers from Jarmund / Vigsnæs AS Architects MNAL have implemented this idea. The house and terrace are partly built upon existing stone walls, other parts of the walls are made of stones from the blasting on the ground. The exterior is clad in wood and stone. As a whole, the house impressed us by its contemporary look, stylish pool and terrace which offer fascinating views of the water and rocks.
