The NOOK Chair & Foot Stool by Henry Sgourakis

Henry Sgourakis is an Australian designer who was influenced by the warm memories from his childhood. He grew up in his Grandma’s house in post war Australia. The design of the NOOK chair pays homage to the lace doilies that decorated the interior of his grandmother’s home. In a world where technology seems to almost dictate our existence Sgourakis intend was to create a piece of furniture that would remind people of the simplicity of life as it was. This model was created by knitting with a strong frame in a circular pattern, mimicking a spider’s cobweb. The handcrafted chair looks fun, creative and sturdy. The cord used is UV protected, so it is suitable both for indoor and outdoor interior. It is not only a piece of furniture but also a great decorative element.

LaRoche Chair by Milla Rezanova: Challenge to the Law of Gravity

The La Roche Chair by the Russian designer Milla Rezanova is a one amazing chair. It has an unusual design which will certainly draw everyone’s attention. This chair seems like it is floating and it is hard to believe it is suitable to be sit on but at the same time it is very stable. You may think the whole weight of the chair is supported by the sharp and narrow pointed leg of the chair. La Roche is interesting not only from the point of view of the shape but also because of the combination of colours (brownish-red and white) and materials (wood and plastic). No doubt this chair will bring refined elegance to any interior.

ABC Chairs by Roeland Otten: an Alphabet to sit on

The designer Roeland Otten, based out of Rotterdam, the Netherlands, has recently presented ABC chairs, the prototypes of the letters in the alphabet. As you can guess there are 26 models in his collection which are made of lacquered MDF with hopes to mass produce these chairs with a lighter more durable material. The seats can be arranged to form words so they can perform a communicative function. The idea of the designer is that smaller size ABC chairs would also be applicable for children’s interiors, such as libraries and schools. Limited editions of prototypes can be produced upon request. ABC chairs were produced with the help of Fonds BKVB and Materiaal Fonds voor Beeldende Kunst en Vormgeving.

Amazing Fluid Furniture by Lila Jang

Nowadays everyone wants to be unique in some way, not similar with others. This concerns the house interior too. The main purpose is to make house attractive or may be even unusual in some way, to make your house stand out among others. Lila Jang, the designer with her own special view, presented her new Fluid collection of seats. You will be impressed because all the shapes are very unpredictable and unusual. Her furniture seems to live its own life. The collection includes several pieces of furniture such as “Canape”, the sofa that actually climbs a wall corner, with half of its foot on the floor or two chairs with seats that are different but share the same back. Or maybe you prefer the chair that seems to be melting down? Take a look at those Lathe chairs by Sebastian Brajkovic. I find it as a very interesting and also “new style” for any home improvement. Do you?
