Contemporary electric candlelight by Baccarat
What do you imagine when you hear about the candlelight? If you imagine the burning candle then you have to know that those days are passed. Yann Kersalé, designer from Paris, created these beautiful crystal candle lights for Baccarat. They are sold in sets of four and the base to charge them. Once the candle is charged, it can be placed anywhere indoors or outdoors, you can even take it with you to the forest hike. There are two designs, one of which reminds of a lava lamp, except that the bubbles are static, I favor this design more. You can find out how to buy one of those light at the Baccarat web site here.

The furniture in the kids room has to be safe in the first place, but also it better have bright happy colors. Scientists prove that the variety of vivid colors contributes to the development of the child, even in unconscious age. The following animal chairs are also fun and attractive to the children, they would be excited about what the animals are and how they look.

Professional Interior Design by Yabu Pushelberg
Yabu Pushelberg is a professional design studio and they are really cool in creating original contemporary interiors. The following is a private residence in Miami they were working on. The distinctive feature of this studio is that their work is very harmonic and complete, even though there are always lost of details and things. You just can’t add anything to the interior below, and so nothing should be removed – furniture integrates seamlessly with decorations and appliances. Its surprising as at seems at the same time that there is a dangerous mixture of styles. But overall it looks like a very contemporary and cozy home. There is a plenty of other great interiors on Yabu Pushelberg web site here.

Making concrete surfaces look warm and sexy

We have recently reviewed this modern cottage that looks quite cold mostly because of it’s gray polished concrete floors. Now lets see how we can decorate such concrete floor to make it friendly and actually integrate and bring some complexity to your interior. The first and the most obvious thing you can do with your concrete floor is paint it! This home on the pictures below is made of concrete, but look at how fun and cozy it looks. Another option is to use smooth shapes or lets say floral stamps to make it warmer. The only bad thing about concrete is that often it still tends to be cold like a stone, unless if you live in a warm geography.

Contemporary Luxury House Designs by Bruce Stafford Architects
Bruce Stafford Architects is a Sydney based studio working on both architecture and interior design. And you know what? They do that extremely well. All of their houses are large luxury ones and it’s surprising how different and unique yet equally breathtaking they are. Many of this studio’s designs are influenced by Asian culture and that can be notice in both the furniture and architecture – like that overhanging roof on the last picture. Look at those open-air living areas with swimming pools – how cool is that? Visit their web site here to check out their other projects.

Digital Contemporary Art by Eva Dijkstra and Michael Lugmayr

Infographiti is the new type of modern art by Eva Dijkstra and Michael Lugmayr. Their abstract graffiti's are based on digital information that has been reinterpreted and put on the canvas. Their artworks would fit extremely well into most contemporary interiors, where some more classical paintings would look inappropriate. In addition they will look great in the office of the modern IT company. Abstract infopaintings are better than anything to emphasize the company’s high status and IT focus. To find more about Eva and Michael’s work, visit their web site.

Stripped House Design: Mod Cott by Matt Lawrence

This quirky lakeside house by architecturalpolka has been awarded for its originality three times in 2010 by the Texas Society of Architects Design, the AIA Austin, and the Residential Architect Grand Design Award. The design of this house can be described as stripped architecture because its very simplistic and modern and that is why its Mod Cott. All possible tricks are used for economy and efficiency – there are large solar panels on the roof, rain collectors, and sustainable materials too – the construction is mostly of steel and wood. This is the greenest house indeed. But even with all those advantages many internet users found this home a bit too cold and unfriendly for its cold concrete floors and gloomy gray colors.

Cool Fresh Looking Classic Table Task Lamp by Vialight
The Batucada table task lamp by Vialight is designed Brazilian Jahara Studio as part of the corresponding collection, all items of which are made by smashing regular metal things by hammer. It resembles the classic metal industrial lamp except that all of those lamps are unique and just like the rest of collection have very bright and lovely colors. This is a LED lamp, so it doesn’t warms up, doesn’t consumes too much energy, and gives a nice white light; plus it’s fully recyclable. These lamps are being displayed on the Miami Design Week, but if you’ll miss that you can try to make one of those lamps yourself, except that… I wonder how many lamps did Brunno Jahara throw away before he’s got the displayed samples?
