Eagle Ridge – the modern residence surrounded by forest

The designers from Gary Gladwish Architecture have completed a draft of Eagle Ridge, a house in Washington. The site is located on a hill in a wooded area overlooking the lake, and the house is fully meet lifestyle of the owner and it is a dream come true for her. The open plan, a simple design, harmony with nature - these were the basic wishes of the client. The island and the forest were the main sources of inspiration, so each point of residence provides a magnificent view. As a result, the mansion feature united kitchen, dining room and living room, as well as a bedroom, office, art studio and a small warehouse. Wood and steel were used as the main materials, and even moss and rocks from the outside world became the part of the residence. Windows and glass doors can be opened, turning the living room into a cozy place to rest in the forest.

Oceanfront YN-13 House on Shelter Island in New York state

The designers’ company Morris Sato Studio has completed YN-13 House. Located in Shelter Island, New York, the mansion occupies an area of ??6000 sq. and consists of three separate buildings: a residential unit, guest house and garage. The exterior was inspired by Japanese style, the bleached vertical battens and cedar siding of the main and ancillary volumes’ of the guesthouse and garage merge with the terne-coated stainless steel roofing to form a unified textured appearance between the walls and the roof. The interiors are very light, modern and quit minimalistic. The residence is also characterized by open floor plans. Terraces and balconies are equipped for the rest, and even from the second floor you can enjoy the ocean view.

Modern Family Aptos Retreat by CCS Architecture

San Francisco-based studio CCS Architecture, presented a project of Aptos Retreat. This residential house occupies an area of 260 sq.m. and looks very original. It was designed for a family with 6 children and built in the mountains near Santa Cruz. Located on a hill, the residence is famous for its stunning views of the mountains and the ocean. It looks pretty rough, but the geometry of the architecture is not so simple. The house consists of two main parts, one of which overlaps the other. In one block there is a sleeping area with two bedrooms and a bathroom, and in the other you’ll find a sitting area, which consists of a lounge, kitchen and dining room. On the second floor of this block there is a master bedroom. In addition to the main buildings the project includes a spacious hangar. It is a place for recreation and entertainment, but it can also provide extra sleeping space for guests.

Beautiful Bonney Avenue Residence by Willis Greenhalgh Architects

Bonney Avenue Residence is a beautiful combination between past and present. The designers from Willis Greenhalgh Architects have transformed an old church into a modern living residence. Located in Brisbane, Australia, the construction was built in 1867 and underwent many changes over its history. After church there was a theater. Today, you can see a charming luxury residence, which preserved part of its rich history. Extensive community and heritage consultation ensured the balance between conserving the integrity of the buildings, the subtle introduction of contemporary elements, and the relationship with the surrounding area. Holiday Rutherford House by Dorrington Architects

Designers from Dorrington Architects presented the project of Rutherford House, located in New Zealand. This modern residence was designed for rest during the summer and winter vacations. Due to Lake Taupo and the ski resort nearby it is an ideal place to be in connection with nature. The house consists of 4 main parts: a concrete foundation, two bedrooms units with black cedar finish, and open terrace. In the spacious veranda there is a kitchen, dining and sitting area. Bedrooms and living room are situated in separate blocks. It was done to hide from the bad weather or sweltering heat.

Beautiful Remodel Project by Chadbourne + Doss Architects

This contemporary house is located in Washington and it?s an example of quality and prestige remodel of famous Seattle architect Fred Bassetti's earliest design built in 1962. The authors of the project, called Wood Block Residence, became Chadbourne + Doss Architects. The house is situated on a sloping site, surrounded by dense vegetation and amazing natural landscapes and, of course, the residence features large windows and some fragments of the full glassed walls. The exterior was clad in such materials as concrete, wood and glass that look very harmonious there. Interiors show a close relationship with the environment and an inner courtyard. The combination of black and white, as well as individual elements of natural wood emphasizes elegance and style.

Burning Tree Residence by David Jameson Architect

Burning Tree Residence is a mansion of 350 sq m, built by the David Jameson Architect in a secluded and quiet place in the U.S. state of Maryland. During the construction of the house architects faced with a number of limitations, such as a small budget, space and nature. So it was decided to use part of recycled materials. This factor did not affect the appearance and characteristics of the building, but the economy had turned very significant. The house consists of three blocks, which are placed on a common foundation. Extensive wall glazing allows to maximize natural lighting and interiors look very bright. This house is also energy efficient. For energy supply the residence was equipped with solar panels that provide the whole power inputs of the building.
