Forest house

Dwelling House by Andersson Wise Architects

I think everyone in a big city sometimes wants to go to the countryside and enjoy fresh air, walks in the woods and singing of birds. Present to you charming Dwelling House by Andersson Wise Architects located in Bigfork, Montana. Feature of a country house is primarily in the privacy and closeness to nature. It should not be large, but cozy and warm. This house fully satisfies the requirements. In the internal and external decoration of the home were used natural materials such as wood and stone. Homeowners can eat outdoors or simply enjoy the magnificent views of forest and water due to the open terrace. We especially love the bedroom with panoramic windows and living area with beautiful fireplace.

Cranford Residence by Herron Horton Architects

This is a previous project by Herron Horton Architects that they’ve done before the Carlton Residence that we have already reviewed. The owner of this house, George Fisher, calls it the Birds Sanctuary for the amazing fauna at that location, including hawks, cardinals and woodpeckers. And the neighbors are a family of groundhogs. To keep the nature of this site intact, the house was built using only green materials: non-toxic paint, bamboo flooring and energy star appliances. The interior echoes with outside’s brown metal panels and that seems to be an advantage. Brown and white walls help to create a very cozy and calm atmosphere.

Robert Harvey Oshatz Project: Wilkinson Residence Treehouse

It took 7 years for this project to come to reality and it’s easy to understand why. This is probably the most unusual house that we reviewed so far. There are only few straight lines in it’s design. Dominating curves harmonize the house with the surrounding nature and some elements of steampunk make it look exotic and mysterious. The round hallway to the cylindrical lounge is in the focal point of the interior. Large panoramic windows let in the calmness of Portland forests making the house a perfect place to escape from the city bustle.
