Armchair

Eileen Gray - is a Designer who was much ahead of her time. So she was the first who started working with metal tubes for furniture (in 1918). One of her most famous innovation as a designer is her armchair Bibendum - the most recognized work of design XX century. This armchair has an adjustable backrest with work-position and position for rest. The form of Bibendum according to Eileen Gray was inspired by tires Michelin. Seat has a beech frame with rubber webbing. Upholstery made of polyurethane with quilting cotton. Cover in fabric or leather. Bibendum was designed as part of the modernist trend which is completely different from traditional works.

This Silk chair which looks as really unique one was designed by Swedish designer Åsa Kärner of Alvi Design. The materials used are silk thread and oak. It makes this furniture environmental friendly. Silk threads are tightened around a bearing wooden frame. The idea of transparence creates new forms and focuses us on a perception of weightlessness. At the same time the light plays with the shadow through the silk frame in a wonderful manner. As we can see silk is not only suitable and stylish for dress material but it can also become a part of the impressive furniture for contemporary home design. We all wear masks, all the time. No matter how we look from the outside, our inner world is hidden from the relatives. This is probably the philosophy behind this project by Fabio Novembre. Judging from his website, this artist is a little bit crazy in a good way, making him create the furniture that is really unique in it’s concept and look. The NEMO mask chair looks like a sculpture of woman’s face and has enough space to accommodate and completely hide a person behind that mask. It gives a sense of mystery and beauty to your interior or patio, magically turning your house to the theatrical scene. The chair is designed to be used outside and inside alike; rotational moulded polyethylene is extremely weatherproof.
