Saving Money with Anti Crise Chair by Pedro Gomes
From the first sight Anti Crise Chair is the designer's funny invention to make the ordinary thing being extraordinary. But the main idea of Portuguese industrial designer Pedro Gomes, who has created this chair, was totally different. In the era of difficulties and crises he tried to do his best as a designer - he proposed to the world a facility to save the salary. There are three strategic parts of his product: the first one is a traditional money pot; the second part is a feeling of emergency which is connected with the only one way to have an access to the saved up money - to cut a chair with a handsaw integrated into the back of the chair; and the third part is a birth of a new material personality after the procedure of getting money. Pedro Gomes positions his product as an experimental object, a furniture piece played as a manifest.

Several Original Benches
Tube bench design by Peter Donders is a real sculpture. Creation of the final bench - it is a complex process. It needs using of high technology with constructing 3D model of a shape to make many future similar objects. But at first simple tube has been stretched and optimized via interactive simulation to create an optimal form. Then this form is "baked" to make it solid and after this process the preparation of 3d model starts. Crash bench is designed by Liliana Ovalle (England). This item shows what can be done of fine and perfect lines of usual objects due to unexpected impact of something uncontrolled. The bench made of fiberglass and steel structure actually carries a deep philosophical meaning. You can read about other interesting benches below. Kimchi and Chips: "assembly" installation
Due to “kimchi and chips”, an experimental art & technology Seoul (South Korea) studio, we can watch a real miracle of living lights. This composition called “assembly” uses a set of 5,500 white blocks hanging from above and 5 high-res cameras connected to a computer sequence, scanning the cubes with structured light. The combination of these technologies produces a habitat for digital forms to exist in our real world. Presence in such room gives an affect of mystery and mystic. The philosophy of “kimchi and chips” can be seen from the next statement: we create installations, products and services that bridge the gap between people and people, people and technologies, people and nature.

Smart work centers from “Two designers”
Twodesigners (Jonathan Honvoh & Rodrigue Strouwen) have invented three essential and very useful work centers. They are:  an adaptation of the house (for the meetings and sharing), telephone and computer booth (for intimate communication) and the carton (item at school used to separate the benches when it’s requires). All of these work centers are connected by the philosophy of SMARTWork  “green” center, namely: each item is made of durable materials like wood, which gives a warm natural character but doesn’t change “the technological spirit” of the centers. Twodesigners offer not fixed and rigid solutions but rather series of free items, each of them can be presented as separate item or be coupled to another to form a new set.

Furniture made of cork by Jonathan Honvoh & Rodrigue Strouwen
What can be done of simple cork? Usually the biggest benefit of cork is our memories of good taste of wine. But Jonathan Honvoh and Rodrigue Strouwen, two space designers, have invented another use of this simple thing. Their work is their own poetry - both fun and offbeat. Apart from the design of space in the strict sense, “TwoDesigners” make objects based on the connection of different elements. They propose to make furniture of two elements made of cork and joined by metal hoop. The use of cork has several advantages. The elastic properties of cork allows producing the joins without screws or adhesives. Each block is reconstructed from waste production of wine corks, so it represents an economy of raw material. Elements of interior made of cork are multifunctional and modular.

Playful Companion Rack by Gavin Coyle

Do you like dogs? British designer Gavin Coyle has developed an interesting magazines holder called Companion Rack, inspired by the men's best friend. By it's shape it resembles a dog who gives the newspaper to its owner. The item, made of CNC wire, allows for a lightness of form, allowing the colors of the magazines to decorate the body and not overpower the environment of the work. So I think that this rack can decorate an office or your living room. Visit the designer’s site to see more interesting items.
