Several Original Benches
Tube bench design by Peter Donders is a real sculpture. Creation of the final bench - it is a complex process. It needs using of high technology with constructing 3D model of a shape to make many future similar objects. But at first simple tube has been stretched and optimized via interactive simulation to create an optimal form. Then this form is "baked" to make it solid and after this process the preparation of 3d model starts. Crash bench is designed by Liliana Ovalle (England). This item shows what can be done of fine and perfect lines of usual objects due to unexpected impact of something uncontrolled. The bench made of fiberglass and steel structure actually carries a deep philosophical meaning. You can read about other interesting benches below. Unbelievably beautiful and realistic sculptures of wild animals are created by this talented Canadian artist. Nicholls usually spots the subjects of his work in his hikes and kayaking excursions. His interest of wildlife has become a very advantageous in such interesting kind of arts as paper sculpture. 3d sculptures of paper are incredibly detailed and really hard work. Made of many pieces of different types of paper it has to be provided with special lighting effects to be more realistic and to emphasize needed elements of texture.

Moving Labyrinth by Nova Jiang
This interesting construction was designed and created by New York-based Chinese artist Nova Jiang. It consists of modular elements with rotating planters controlled by a software program that continuously generates new maze patterns. Full construction consists of particles of broken glass, plastic and other detritus; the planters contain live moss collected from the sides of buildings, cracks in the pavement and so on. As the author says, ’they form a patchwork of unintentional archaeology’. The rotation makes people to change direction by going through the space where the maze is installed. This sculpture is not just decoration or mere classical labyrinth, Jiang positions her work as an object of literary creativity or mathematical beauty. This sculpture, quite useless at first sight, has very deep sense. People in their usual life make everything without any sense and not enjoying the process. Kinetic maze develops in people clarity of mind by making people stop and think. [caption id="attachment_22620" align="aligncenter" width="620"] labyrinth[/caption]

Lamps Shaped Dogs by Whatishisname
Modern art is interesting by its eccentricity, openness and even queerness to one’s taste. But this is the the main attraction of it. Each item of nowadays art has a sense, it can speak and it talks about everything that surrounds us. It explains talks, argues, cries, laughs and makes us share the same feelings, express the same emotions. The first emotion that awakens in us when we look at Whatshisname’s last work is laugh. This is a lamp in a shape of a black dog with the on/off switch that has very interesting shape, you can see it on the picture below. More precisely there are two similar lamps: ‘Good Boy’ and ‘Good Puppy’. The lamps were designed with the intention to make users uncomfortable while using them. Except the appearance the lamps certainly have an important functionality. The lighting they provide has a romantic and soft glow. Good Puppy is available in limited editions, so you can try to buy it. [caption id="attachment_22613" align="aligncenter" width="620"] good puppy lamps[/caption]

Futuristic Lighting for a Staircase by PSLAB
Very interesting decision to illuminate a staircase was proposed by lighting company PSLAB. They have created lighting design for a spiral staircase in Beirut home (Lebanon). The main peculiarity of this lighting composition is its location. The rectangular holes with lamps inside are mounted right in the back sides of the steps of the staircase. So if we look in the staircase from the base it is a feeling like we are inside of some flying saucer or a spacecraft. The fact that this spiral staircase has no rails and the back sides of the steps are lit makes this composition look futuristic. It’s a new idea in design of staircases when illumination is an essential part of the design itself. [caption id="attachment_22583" align="aligncenter" width="600"] staircase-light[/caption]

Bookshelf with Letters by Studio Saporiti
Roberto Saporiti and Eva Alessandrini from Italian Studio Saporiti have given the opportunity to enjoy the “ABC” bookshelf to the world. The design of this product has defined its name. The bookshelf consists of individual cubes that have various partitions within. Due to the partitions the cubes form numbers and letters, which can be organized into the sentences, as if they are written with a help of the pieces of boards. So we have a “speaking” bookshelf. On the photo below you can read a sentence “read your book case”. The cubes of three different sizes can be assembled not only into a bookcase. Using your fantasy you can construct different combinations making a table or a chair, for example. [caption id="attachment_22569" align="aligncenter" width="620"] cubes with "read your book case" - sentence[/caption]

The Lamp of Dual Functionality by Studio Ninho
It is a very rare situation when one and the same object performs various functions. But such objects exist. Vinícius Lopes Leite and Gabriela Kuniyoshi - the designers of Brazilian Studio Ninho - have created a lamp and a board for messages at the same time. This lamp of dual functionality is called the ‘Luminaire Post’ looks really like the parcel. It’s packed very comfortably in dismantled form into a small package and it does not bring many difficulties and skills to assemble it. The messages can be easily placed right on the lampshade made of cork. The lamp throws a soft light enough to see written on the shade clearly. In spite of the elementary design and economical manufacturing process (using of sustainable materials) it looks very elegant and nice.
