Modest C2 Yamanashi House in the Forest

City life is becoming tenser because of the large number of people and the continuous deterioration of ecological environment. That is why more and more people are trying to build a house as far away from civilization as possible. Today we review one more unusual house, which was created by specialists of Japanese studio Studio Curiosity and built almost in the forest. The house, named C2 Yamanashi, has a clear and a little abstract volume, which follows the slope of the plot. One of the walls of the house is almost entirely glazed and offers a complete overview of the forest, while the others are almost completely blank. The interiors are not too large, but seem more spacious due to the fact that designers used so popular in the Japan minimalistic style.

Alki Townhomes in Seattle by Johnston Architects

These charming contemporary twin buildings are located only a few steps away from Alki Beach, Seattle. The design is really luxurious. The advantages that can be seen outside are the impressive glass facades and the roof terraces opened towards the city to catch the neighborhood, the Seattle cityscape and the beach. Both houses have three bedrooms with two master suites and fitted by a garage for two cars, spacious kitchens, walk-in showers, Jacuzzi bath, natural bamboo and slate flooring, and much more high-end finishes. The rooms located right beneath the roofs are splendid with their unusual geometry. These twins offer friendly and warm atmosphere. More information here.

The Gunderson house in Norway by WRB: Fantasy Fjord Home

Norway is known as Northern severe country but there are so many fascinating views there giving a look to which you will instantly remind of crispy blue fjords, rock formations and windswept trees. I want to attract your attention by a breathtaking house in Haugesund overlooking a stunning fjord. The Gunderson House is a project done by Widjedal Racki Bergerhoff Architects. The house offers beautiful views through big windows over the bay. An original house was situated on the southern part of the plot, with a cramped up sunny patio, without benefiting from the site scenic views and coastal location. The interior design of this residence is contemporary yet warm and welcoming. It combines various materials with bold and subdued colors, like the red and black kitchen and the light colored living room; the minimalist dining table and its colorful eclectic rug; the wooden ceiling, glass walls and stone fireplace. One of the most delightful features is the beautiful roof covered patio with its open fireplace and heated pool. Finding yourself in the Gunderson house you’ll be fascinated by a friendly atmosphere created by architects and designers.

Efficient Cube-Shaped Home by Robert Gurney Architect

This interesting cube-shaped house by Robert Gurney Architect is desired to be an efficient house design with a minimal footprint. It has both the features of functionality and minimalism. Designed and built in Bethesda, Maryland, the new house occupies one third less area than the original structure. Now all the space is used to its full potential. The square of the residence is 2200 sq feet of the living space plus 1100 sq feet on the flat root where you can enjoy the panoramic views of treetops and the downtown Bethesda skyline. This residence is created for modern people: it’s modern and de-cluttered, environmentally conscious and comfortable. The internal interior is fit to the architect’s concept, it is the perfect base for the modern furniture, decorations and art.

Pentagonal House by Kazuya Morita Architecture Studio

Japanese Kazuya Morita Architecture Studio has completed an unusual house for a young couple near Nagoya in a calm village of Tsushima. The building has a pentagonal shape, which arised from the space between the houses. Thanks to its form the house was called Pentagonal House. Inside it was divided into 5 zones, united by dining pentagonal table in the middle. Designers use traditional methods for decoration: wood, rounded corners and a white Japanese plaster. It seems unbelievable how such a beautiful, spacious and functional building could occupy an area of 88 square meters. This is a project of great talent, how do you think?

Crossbox House by CG Architects

CG Architects designed this house composed of two container clad laid crosswise in Pont Péan, France. The home is elegantly balanced and maintains a small footprint. The modern residence is clad in a low-maintenance material for a sleek finish, while the inside is simply furnished and bright. The first volume is grey while the other one is of green colour. Near the house you will find one more building made of wood. This combination of colours looks very natural. There is a cozy living area inside the house. The interior is rather bright. Living in this house you will also have a space for planting greens by means of the green roof. The house reminds of the previously reviewed Bright Container House by Jure Kotnic Architect.

Contemporary Modular Black and White Houses by A-Cero

These great houses were presented by A-Cero Modular quite a while ago, in 2010, but we simply couldn’t leave them unviewed. A-Cero is a world-wide famous Spanish design studio, specializing in urban architecture and design. Unlike the huge luxury houses they built for the La-Finca residential area, modular department’s houses are much smaller and easier to construct. Just like any other modular homes they are built of prefabricated blocks. There are multiple configurations, from the cheapest two room and one storey version at 84,000 euros, to the most expensive Cubic that has two storey and reminds of the luxury Spanish villas the most and comes at 252,000 euros. The earlier presented version is called the black house and has black glossy facade thanks to the black windows glass and aluminum panels. It looks extremely cool, but newer white house is more welcoming and extraordinary with its black and white contrastive exterior. For more information visit this website.
